Audi’s popular midsize crossover, the Q5, enters its second generation.
Audi is quite actively involved in the 2016 Paris Motor Show. The newest company is the all-new Audi Q5 of the next generation, which is part of the second generation to compete with the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC.
What is it?
This is Audi’s second generation of its venerable mid-size crossover, the Q5. Since this is all new, the Audi Q5 has a complete list of changes and changes compared to the previous model.
The biggest change is taking the form of a new platform. The result is a reduction of almost 200 pounds due to the widespread use of steel and aluminum with “maximum tensile strength.”
This sheet metal is also recycled to give the Q5 a much more refined look, similar to Q7. Speaking of which, Q5 fulfills the mission of being reduced by Q7. The new design also helps to reduce resistance, the coefficient coefficient decreases from 0.33 to 0.30.
Other changes include a new interior with a standard 12.3-inch TFT display as a replacement for the traditional measurement cluster and another 8.3-inch MMI display located in the center console for controlling the infotainment system.
What powers it?
When the 2017 Audi Q5 is released in Europe, it will be available for the first time with an updated 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 252 horsepower. Four additional TDI transmissions will subsequently be added to the selection. Do not expect these oil burners to appear in the United States, despite the prolonged influence of Dieselgate.
Europeans, fortunately, get a six-speed manual gearbox or a choice of a five-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission or a traditional eight-speed car. All transmission options depend on the engine and transmission configuration.
